ISLAMIC LIES, ABSURDITIES &
INACCURACIES - Volume #1
(Based upon the Haddiths)
By: Abdul Haleem
As part of their long-running debate with me, advocates of
ahadith inerrancy have claimed
that all criticism is based on incomplete or out of context
quoting of challenged ahadith. I therefore reproduce a collection
for reference in full. In all cases. emphases have been added by
me.
SINCE WHEN DID MONKEYS GET MARRIED AND PUNISHED FOR ADULTERY?
Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 188:
"Narrated 'Amr bin Maimun:
"During the pre-lslamic period of ignorance I SAW A
SHE-MONKEY SURROUNDED BY A NUMBER OF MONKEYS. THEY WERE ALL
STONING IT, BECAUSE IT HAD COMMITTED ILLEGAL SEXUAL INTERCOURSE. I
TOO, STONED IT ALONG WITH THEM."
Since when did monkeys start getting married? Do you really
believe that the Prophet
(pbuh) participated in stoning a monkey for adultery?
DO TRUFFLES CURE EYE DISEASE?
Bukhari reports The Prophet (pbuh) saying that juice of
truffles is "medicine for the
eye":
Bukhari, Book 23, Number 5084:
"Sa'id b. Zaid b. 'Amr b. Nufail reported: I heard Allah's
Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: TRUFFLES ARE A
KIND OF 'MANNA' AND THEIR JUICE IS A MEDICINE FOR THE EYES."
Bukhari, Book 23, Number 5085:
"Sa'id b. Zaid reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (may
peace be upon him) as saying: TRUFFLES ARE A KIND OF
BLESSING AND THEIR JUICE IS A MEDICINE FOR THE EYES. . .
.."
Bukhari, Book 23, Number 5086:
"Sa'id b. Zaid b. 'Amr b. Nufail reported Allah's
Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: TRUFFLES ARE A
KIND OF 'MANNA' WHICH ALLAH THE GLORIOUS AND EXALTED, SENT DOWN
UPON THE PEOPLE OF ISRAIL, AND ITS JUICE IS A MEDICINE FOR THE
EYES."
Bukhari, Book 23, Number 5087:
"Sa'id b. Zaid reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be
upon him) as saying: TRUFFLES ARE A KIND OF 'MANNA' WHICH
ALLAH SENT DOWN UPON MOSES AND THEIR JUICE IS A MEDICINE FOR THE
EYES."
Next time you have an eye infection are you going to find
truffle juice? Or go to an eye doctor?
DO DATES NEUTRALIZE ALL POISON?
The Prophet (pbuh) said "YES," according to the
Bukhari:
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 663:
"Narrated Saud:
"The Prophet said, ‘IF SOMEBODY TAKES SOME 'AJWA
DATES EVERY MORNING, HE WILL NOT BE EFFECTED BY POISON OR MAGIC ON
THAT DAY TILL NIGHT.’ (Another narrator said seven
dates)."
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 664:
"Narrated Saud:
"I heard Allah's Apostle saying, ‘IF SOMEBODY
TAKES SEVEN 'AJWA DATES IN THE MORNING, NEITHER MAGIC NOR POISON
WILL HURT HIM THAT DAY.’"
Anyone up for taking strychnine to test these hadiths? Didn’t
think so!
NEXT TIME YOU ARE SICK, WILL YOU TREAT WITH HONEY, BLACK CUMIN,
AND UD-AL-HINDI?
That’s right, the following hadiths from Sahih Bukhari have
the Prophet (pbuh) touting honey, black cumin and ud-al-hindi as
"cure-alls"
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 588:
"Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:
"A man came to the Prophet and said, ‘My brother has
some abdominal trouble.’ The Prophet said to him ‘Let him
drink honey.’ The man came for the second time and the Prophet
said to him, 'Let him drink honey.’ He came for the third time
and the Prophet said, ‘Let him drink honey.’ He returned again
and said, "I have done that ' The Prophet then said, ‘ALLAH
HAS SAID THE TRUTH, BUT YOUR BROTHER'S ABDOMEN HAS TOLD A LIE. LET
HIM DRINK HONEY.’ So he made him drink honey and he was
cured."
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 591:
"Narrated Khalid bin Sad:
"‘We went out and Ghalib bin Abjar was accompanying us.
He fell ill on the way and when we arrived at Medina he was still
sick. Ibn Abi 'Atiq came to visit him and said to us, "Treat
him with black cumin. Take five or seven seeds and crush them (mix
the powder with oil) and drop the resulting mixture into both
nostrils, for 'Aisha has narrated to me that she heard the Prophet
saying, ‘THIS BLACK CUMIN IS HEALING FOR ALL DISEASES
except As-Sam.’ Aisha said, ‘What is As-Sam?’ He said, ‘Death.’"’"
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 592:
"Narrated Abu Huraira:
"I heard Allah's Apostle saying, ‘THERE IS HEALING
IN BLACK CUMIN FOR ALL DISEASES EXCEPT DEATH.’"
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 611:
"Narrated Um Qais:
"I went to Allah's Apostle along with a son of mine whose
palate and tonsils I had pressed with my finger as a treatment for
a (throat and tonsil) disease. The Prophet said, ‘Why do you
pain your children by pressing their throats! USE UD
AL-HINDI (CERTAIN INDIAN INCENSE) FOR IT CURES SEVEN DISEASES,
one of which is pleurisy. It is used as a snuff for treating
throat and tonsil disease and it is inserted into one side of the
mouth of one suffering from pleurisy.’"
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 613:
"Narrated Um Qais : that she took to Allah's Apostle one
of her sons whose palate and tonsils she had pressed because he
had throat trouble. The Prophet said, ‘Why do you pain your
children by getting the palate pressed like that? USE THE UD
AL-HINDI (CERTAIN INDIAN INCENSE) FOR IT CURES SEVEN DISEASES ONE
OF WHICH IS PLEURISY.’"
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 614:
"Narrated Abu Said:
"A man came to the prophet and said, 'My brother has got
loose motions.’ The Prophet said, ‘LET HIM DRINK HONEY.’
The man again (came) and said, 'I made him drink (honey) but that
made him worse.' The Prophet said, 'ALLAH HAS SAID THE
TRUTH, AND THE ABDOMEN OF YOUR BROTHER HAS TOLD A LIE.’"
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 616:
"Narrated Um Oais: that she took to Allah's Apostle one of
her sons whose palate and tonsils she had pressed to treat a
throat trouble. The Prophet said, ‘Be afraid of Allah! Why do
you pain your children by having their tonsils pressed like that? USE
THE UD AL-HINDI (A CERTAIN INDIAN INCENSE) FOR IT CURES SEVEN
DISEASES, ONE OF WHICH IS PLEURISY.’"
Next time you are sick, are you going to trust honey, black
cumin, and ud-al-hindi? Or will you go to the doctor?
CONTRADICTORY INSTRUCTIONS ON WHETHER TO DRINK WATER STANDING
UP OR SITTING DOWN
So-called "sound" hadiths are in conflict on this
issue!
Muslim collects of number of hadiths DISAPPROVING drinking
of water while standing:
Muslim, Book 23, Number 5017:
"Anas reported Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) DISAPPROVED
THE DRINKING OF WATER WHILE STANDING."
Muslim, Book 23, Number 5018:
"Anas reported that Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon
him) FORBADE THAT A PERSON SHOULD DRINK WHILE STANDING.
Qatada reported: We said to him: What about eating? Thereupon he (Anas)
said: That is even worse and more detestable (abominable). "
Muslim, Book 23, Number 5019:
"This hadith is reported on the authority of Anas with a
different chain of transmitters, but no mention is mane of the
words of Qatada."
Muslim, Book 23, Number 5020:
"Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that Allah's Messenger (may
peace be upon him) WARNED AGAINST DRINKING WHILE STANDING."
Muslim, Book 23, Number 5021:
"Abu Sa'id Khudri reported this hadith through another
chain of transmitters but with a slight, variation of
wording."
Muslim, Book 23, Number 5022:
"Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon
him) as saying: NONE OF YOU SHOULD DRINK WHILE STANDING;
and if anyone forgets, he must vomit."
.
However, Muslim ALSO reports THE PROPHET (PBUH)
DRINKING WHILE STANDING:
Muslim, Book 23, Number 5023:
"Ibn Abbas reported: I served.(water of) Zamzam to Allah's
Messenger (may peace be upon him), and HE DRANK IT WHILE
STANDING."
Muslim, Book 23, Number 5024:
"Ibn 'Abbas reported that ALLAH'S MESSENGER (MAY
PEACE BE UPON HIM) DRANK (WATER) FROM ZAMZAM IN A BUCKET WHILE HE
WAS STANDING."
Muslim, Book 23, Number 5025:
"Ibn 'Abbas reported that ALLAH'S APOSTLE (MAY PEACE
BE UPON HIM) DRANK (WATER) FROM ZAMZAM WHILE HE WAS
STANDING."
Muslim, Book 23, Number 5026:
"Ibn 'Abbas reported: I served (water from) Zamzam to
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him), and HE DRANK
WHILE STANDING, and he asked for it while he was near the
House (i.e. House of Allah-Ka'ba)."
Which is it?
DO DATES CURE HEART DISEASE?
Abu Dawud attributes this claim to the Prophet (pbuh):
Abu Dawud , Book 28, Number 3866:
"Narrated Sa'd:
"I suffered from an illness. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him)
came to pay a visit to me. He put his hands between my nipples and
I felt its coolness at my heart. He said: YOU ARE A MAN
SUFFERING FROM HEART SICKNESS. Go to al-Harith ibn Kaladah,
brother of Thaqif. He is a man who gives medical treatment. HE
SHOULD TAKE SEVEN AJWAH DATES OF MEDINA AND GRIND THEM WITH THEIR
KERNELS, AND THEN PUT THEM INTO YOUR MOUTH."
Is a Muslim suffering heart disease required to submit to this
"cure"? Or can he or she see a heart specialist?
ARE WE FORBIDDEN TO COMB OUR HAIR MORE FREQUENTLY THAN ONCE
EVERY TWO DAYS?
According to the following hadith collected by Abu Dawud, the
answer is "Yes."
Abu Dawud, Book 33, Number 4147:
"Narrated Abdullah ibn Mughaffal:
"The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) FORBADE
COMBING THE HAIR EXCEPT EVERY SECOND DAY."
Can anyone believe this nonsense is the Word of Allah?
ARE WE REQUIRED TO WEAR OLD CLOTHES?
According to the following hadith collected by Abu Dawud, the
answer is "Yes."
Abu Dawud, Book 33, Number 4149:
" Narrated AbuUmamah Ilyas ibn Tha'labah:
"The Companions of the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him)
mentioned this word before him. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him)
said: Listen, listen! WEARING OLD CLOTHES IS A PART OF
FAITH, WEARING OLD CLOTHES IS A PART OF FAITH."
This nonsense conflicts with Quran 7:31 which says "wear
your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer"!
USE OF THE SKIN OF AN ANIMAL THAT DIED FROM NATURAL CAUSES BOTH
PERMITTED AND PROHIBITED
Hadiths collected by Abu Dawud on this point are IN CONFLICT!
Some hadiths quote the Prophet (pbuh) as saying
"YES":
Abu Dawud , Book 32, Number 4112:
"Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin:
" The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) ordered that the
skins of the animals which had died a natural death SHOULD
BE USED when they are tanned."
Abu Dawud, Book 32, Number 4113:
"Narrated Salamah ibn al-Muhabbaq:
"On the expedition of Tabuk the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him)
came to a household and, seeing a bucket hanging, asked for water.
They said: APOSTLE OF ALLAH, THE ANIMAL DIED A NATURAL
DEATH. HE REPLIED; ITS TANNING IS ITS PURIFICATION."
Abu Dawud, Book 32, Number 4114:
"Narrated Maymunah:
"Al-Aliyah, daughter of Subay', said: I had some sheep at
Uhud, and they began to die. I then entered upon Maymunah, wife of
the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him), and mentioned it to her. Maymunah
said to me: If you took their skins and made use of them, (that
would be better for you). SHE ASKED: IS THAT LAWFUL? SHE
REPLIED, YES. Some people of the Quraysh passed by the
Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) dragging a sheep of theirs as
big as an ass. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said to
them: Would that you took its skin. They said: IT DIED A
NATURAL DEATH. THE APOSTLE OF ALLAH (PEACE_BE_UPON_HIM) SAID:
WATER AND LEAVES OF THE MIMOSA FLAVA PURIFY IT."
However, other hadiths also collected by Abu Dawud quote the
Prophet (pbuh) as saying "NO."
Abu Dawud, Book 32, Number 4115:
"Narrated Abdullah ibn Ukaym:
"The letter of the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him)
was read out to us in the territory of Juhaynah when I was a young
boy: DO NOT MAKE USE OF THE SKIN OR SINEW OF AN ANIMAL WHICH
DIED A NATURAL DEATH"
Abu Dawud, Book 32, Number 4116:
"Narrated Abdullah ibn Ukaym,:
"Al-Hakam ibn Uyaynah said that he went along with some
people to Abdullah ibn Ukaym, a man of Juhaynah. al-Hakam said:
They entered and I sat at the door. Then they came out and told me
that Abdullah ibn Ukaym had informed them that the Apostle of
Allah (peace_be_upon_him) had written to Juhaynah one month before
his death: DO NOT MAKE USE OF THE SKIN OR SINEW OF AN ANIMAL
WHICH DIED A NATURAL DEATH."
Did Allah actually tell the Prophet (pbuh) to BOTH approve
use of such animal skins
and disapprove it ? Not likely!
WEARING RED CLOTHING BOTH PERMITTED OR PROHIBITED
Some hadiths collected by Abu Dawud say the Prophet (pbuh)
DISAPPROVED wearing of the color red.
Abu Dawud, Book 32, Number 4058:
"Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As:
"A man WEARING TWO RED GARMENTS passed the
Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and gave him a greeting, but he did
not respond to his greeting."
Abu Dawud , Book 32, Number 4059:
"Narrated Rafi' ibn Khadij:
" We went out with the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him)
on a journey, and we had on our saddles and camels GARMENTS
CONSISTING OF RED WARP OF WOOL. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him)
said: DO I NOT SEE THAT RED COLOUR HAS DOMINATED YOU.
We then got up quickly on account of this saying of the Apostle of
Allah (peace_be_upon_him) and some of our camels ran away. We then
took the garments and withdrew them.
Abu Dawud, Book 32, Number 4060:
"Narrated Zaynab:
"Hurayth ibn al-Abajj as-Sulayhi said: that a woman of
Banu Asad: One day I was with Zaynab, the wife of the Apostle of
Allah (peace_be_upon_him), and we were dyeing her clothes with red
ochre. In the meantime the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him)
peeped us. WHEN HE SAW THE RED OCHRE, HE RETURNED. WHEN
ZAYNAB SAW THIS, SHE REALISED THAT THE APOSTLE OF ALLAH (PEACE_BE_UPON_HIM)
DISAPPROVED OF WHAT SHE HAD DONE. SHE THEN TOOK AND WASHED HER
CLOTHES AND CONCEALED ALL REDNESS. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him)
then returned and peeped, and when he did not see anything, he
entered."
Yet Abu Dawud also reports THE PROPHET (PBUH) WEARING RED!
Book 32, Number 4062:
"Narrated Amir:
"I saw THE APOSTLE OF ALLAH (PEACE_BE_UPON_HIM) AT
MINA GIVING SERMON ON A MULE AND WEARING A RED GARMENT,
while Ali was announcing.
Did Allah actually tell the Prophet (pbuh) to say one thing and
do another? I don’t think so!
SHOULD DOGS BE KILLED?
Muslim claims that the Prophet (pbuh) ordered the
indiscriminate killing of dogs:
Muslim, Book 010, Number 3810:
"Ibn 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported: Allah's
Messenger (may peace be upon him) ORDERED TO KILL DOGS, and
he sent (men) to the corners of Medina that they should be
killed."
Muslim, Book 010, Number 3811:
"Abdullah (b. Umar) (Allah be pleased with them) reported:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) ORDERED THE KILLING
OF DOGS AND WE WOULD SEND (MEN) IN MEDINA AND ITS CORNERS AND WE
DID NOT SPARE ANY DOG THAT WE DID NOT KILL, so much so that we
killed the dog that accompanied the wet she-camel belonging to the
people of the desert."
Then the Prophet (pbuh) changed his mind!
Muslim, Book 010, Number 3813:
"Abu Zubair heard Jabir b. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased
with him) saying: ALLAH'S MESSENGER (MAY PEACE BE UPON HIM)
ORDERED US TO KILL DOGS, AND WE CARRIED OUT THIS ORDER SO MUCH SO
THAT WE ALSO KILL THE DOG COMING WITH A WOMAN FROM THE DESERT.
THEN ALLAH'S APOSTLE (MAY PEACE BE UPON HIM) FORBADE THEIR KILLING.
. . ."
Is such animal cruelty divinely inspired? Does anyone really
believe that the Prophet (pbuh) conducted a purge of dogs (ala
Josef Stalin) then changed his mind with no explanation?
Also how do we square these hadiths (and others which prescribe
the killing of dogs) with the Quran itself?
Surah 18, tells the story of the "Companions of the
Cave" - Seven faithful youths whom Allah put in sleep for 100
or more years to protect them from religious persecution:
"9. Or dost thou think that the Companions of the Cave
and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign?
"10. Behold, the youths betook themselves to the Cave:
they said, "Our Lord! bestow on us Mercy from Thyself, and
dispose of our affair for us in the right way!"
"11. Then We draw (a veil) over their ears, for a
number of years, in the Cave, (so that they heard not):
"12. Then We roused them, in order to test which of
the two parties was best at calculating the term of years they had
tarried!
"13. We relate to thee their story in truth: they were
youths who believed in their Lord, and We advanced them in
guidance:
"14. We gave strength to their hearts: Behold, they
stood up and said: "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and
of the earth: never shall we call upon any god other than Him: if
we did, we should indeed have uttered an enormity!
"15. ‘These our people have taken for worship gods
other than Him: why do they not bring forward an authority clear
(and convincing) for what they do? Who doth more wrong than such
as invent a falsehood against Allah?
"16. ‘When ye turn away from them and the things
they worship other than Allah, betake yourselves to the Cave: Your
Lord will shower His mercies on you and disposes of your affair
towards comfort and ease.’
"17. Thou wouldst have seen the sun, when it rose,
declining to the right from their Cave, and when it set, turning
away from them to the left, while they lay in the open space in
the midst of the Cave. Such are among the Signs of Allah. He whom
Allah, guides is rightly guided; but he whom Allah leaves to
stray,- for him wilt thou find no protector to lead him to the
Right Way.
"18. Thou wouldst have thought them, whilst they
were asleep, and We turned them on
their right and on their left sides: THEIR DOG STRETCHING
FORTH HIS TWO FORE-LEGS ON THE THRESHOLD: if thou hadst
looked at them, thou wouldst have certainly turned back from them
in flight, and wouldst certainly have been filled with terror of
them."
Quran, 18:9-18.
Note that the "Companions of the Cave" kept a dog. If
it was alright with Allah for these
seven faithful youth to keep a dog, how could the Prophet (pbuh)
prohibit Muslims from
keeping dogs, and order dogs to be killed?
WAS THE PROPHET SUBJECT TO EVIL SPELLS?
According to hadiths collected by Bukhari, the answer is
"Yes."
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 658:
"Narrated 'Aisha:
"A MAN CALLED LABID BIN AL-A'SAM FROM THE TRIBE OF
BANI ZARAIQ WORKED MAGIC ON ALLAH'S APOSTLE TILL ALLAH'S APOSTLE
STARTED IMAGINING THAT HE HAD DONE A THING THAT HE HAD NOT REALLY
DONE. One day or one night he was with us, he invoked
Allah and invoked for a long period, and then said, "O 'Aisha!
Do you know that Allah has instructed me concerning the matter I
have asked him about? Two men came to me and one of them sat near
my head and the other near my feet. One of them said to his
companion, "What is the disease of this man?" The other
replied, "HE IS UNDER THE EFFECT OF MAGIC.' THE FIRST
ONE ASKED, 'WHO HAS WORKED THE MAGIC ON HIM?' THE OTHER REPLIED,
"LABID BIN AL-A'SAM.' The first one asked, 'What
material did he use?' The other replied, 'A comb and the hairs
stuck to it and the skin of pollen of a male date palm.' The first
one asked, 'Where is that?' The other replied, '(That is) in the
well of Dharwan;' " So Allah's Apostle along with some of his
companions went there and came back saying, "O 'Aisha, the
color of its water is like the infusion of Henna leaves. The tops
of the date-palm trees near it are like the heads of the
devils." I asked. "O Allah's Apostle? Why did you not
show it (to the people)?" He said, "Since Allah cured
me, I disliked to let evil spread among the people." Then he
ordered that the well be filled up with earth.
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 660:
"Narrated Aisha:
"MAGIC WAS WORKED ON ALLAH'S APOSTLE SO THAT HE USED
TO THINK THAT HE HAD SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH HIS WIVES WHILE HE
ACTUALLY HAD NOT (Sufyan said: That is the hardest kind of
magic as it has such an effect). Then one day he said, ‘O 'Aisha
do you know that Allah has instructed me concerning the matter I
asked Him about? Two men came to me and one of them sat near my
head and the other sat near my feet. The one near my head asked
the other. "What is wrong with this man?" THE
LATTER REPLIED THE IS UNDER THE EFFECT OF MAGIC THE FIRST ONE
ASKED, "WHO HAS WORKED MAGIC ON HIM?" THE OTHER REPLIED
LABID BIN AL-A'SAM, A MAN FROM BANI ZURAIQ WHO WAS AN ALLY OF THE
JEWS AND WAS A HYPOCRITE.' The first one asked, "What
material did he use)?" The other replied, "A comb and
the hair stuck to it." The first one asked, "Where (is
that)?" The other replied. "In a skin of pollen of a
male date palm tree kept under a stone in the well of Dharwan"
‘So the Prophet went to that well and took out those things and
said "That was the well which was shown to me (in a dream)
Its water looked like the infusion of Henna leaves and its
date-palm trees looked like the heads of devils.’ The Prophet
added, ‘Then that thing was taken out' I said (to the Prophet )
‘Why do you not treat yourself with Nashra?’ He said, ‘Allah
has cured me; I dislike to let evil spread among my people.’"
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 661:
"Narrated 'Aisha:
"MAGIC WAS WORKED ON ALLAH'S APOSTLE SO THAT HE
BEGAN TO IMAGINE THAT HE HAD DONE SOMETHING ALTHOUGH HE HAD NOT.
One day while he was with me, he invoked Allah and invoked for a
long period and then said, ‘O 'Aisha! Do you know that Allah has
instructed me regarding the matter I asked Him about?’ I asked,
‘What is that, O Allah's Apostle?’ He said, ‘Two men came to
me; one of them sat near my head and the other sat near my feet.
One of them asked his companion, "What is the disease of this
man?" The other replied, "HE IS UNDER THE EFFECT
OF MAGIC." THE FIRST ONE ASKED, "WHO HAS WORKED MAGIC ON
HIM?" THE OTHER REPLIED, "LABID BIN A'SAM, A JEW FROM
THE TRIBE OF BANI ZURAIQ." The (first one asked),
"With what has it been done?" The other replied,
"With a comb and the hair stuck to it and a skin of the
pollen of a male date palm tree." The first one asked, ‘Where
is it?’ The other replied, ‘In the well of Dharwan.’ Then
the Prophet went along with some of his companions to that well
and looked at that and there were date palms near to it. Then he
returned to me and said, "By Allah the water of that well was
(red) like the infusion of Henna leaves and its date-palms were
like the heads of devils" I said, O Allah's Apostle! Did you
take those materials out of the pollen skin? He said, 'No! As for
me Allah has healed me and cured me and I was afraid that (by
Showing that to the people) I would spread evil among them when he
ordered that the well be filled up with earth, and it was filled
up with earth.’"
These hadiths directly conflict with the Quran, which states:
15.039
"(Iblis) said: ‘O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in
the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth,
and I will put them all in the wrong,-
15.040
"‘EXCEPT THY SERVANTS AMONG THEM, sincere
and purified (by Thy Grace).’
15.041
"(Allah) said: ‘This (way of My sincere servants) is
indeed a way that leads straight to Me.
15.042
"‘FOR OVER MY SERVANTS NO AUTHORITY SHALT THOU
HAVE, except such as put themselves in the wrong and
follow thee.’"
Since Iblis lacks any power over ALLAH’s "servants"
(Quran, 15:42), the Prophet (pbuh)
was never subject to magic or demon possession!
IS TEMPORARY MARRIAGE AUTHORIZED?
According to Bukhari, the Prophet (pbuh) said "yes"!
Bukhari, Volume 6, Book 60, Number 139:
Narrated Abdullah:
We used to participate in the holy wars carried on by the
Prophet and we had no women (wives) with us. So we said (to the
Prophet ). "Shall we castrate ourselves?" But the
Prophet forbade us to do that and thenceforth HE ALLOWED US TO
MARRY A WOMAN (TEMPORARILY) BY GIVING HER EVEN A GARMENT, and
then he recited: "O you who believe! Do not make unlawful the
good things which Allah has made lawful for you."
Abu Dawood, Book 11, Number 2105:
Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah:
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If anyone gives as a
dower to his wife two handfuls of flour or dates he has made her
lawful for him.
AbuDawud said: This tradition has been narrated by AbdurRahman
ibn Mahdi, from Salih ibn Ruman, from AbuzZubayr on the authority
of Jabir as his own statement (not going back to the Prophet). It
has also been transmitted by AbuAsim from Salih ibn Ruman , from
AbuzZubayr on the authority of Jabir who said: DURING THE
LIFETIME OF THE APOSTLE OF ALLAH (PEACE_BE_UPON_HIM) WE USED TO
CONTRACT TEMPORARY MARRIAGE FOR A HANDFUL OF GRAIN.
Muslim, Book 008, Number 3243:
Abdullah (b. Mas'ud) reported: We were on an expedition with
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and we had no women with
us. We said: Should we not have ourselves castrated? He (the Holy
Prophet) forbade us to do so HE THEN GRANTED US PERMISSION THAT
WE SHOULD CONTRACT TEMPORARY MARRIAGE FOR A STIPULATED PERIOD
GIVING HER A GARMENT, and 'Abdullah then recited this verse:
'Those who believe do not make unlawful the good things which
Allah has made lawful for you, and do not transgress. Allah does
not like transgressors" (al-Qur'an, v. 87).
Muslim, Book 008, Number 3244:
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Jarir with
the same chain of transmitters and he also recited this
(above-mentioned verse) to us, but he did not say that 'Abdullah
recited it.
Muslim, Book 008, Number 3245:
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Isma'il with
the same chain of transmitters (and the words are):" We were
young, so we said: Allah's Messenger, should we not have ourselves
castrated? But he (the narrator) did not say; We were on an
expedition."
Muslim, Book 008, Number 3246:
Jabir b. 'Abdullah and Salama b. al-Akwa' said: There came to
us the proclaimer of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and
said: ALLAH'S MESSENGER (MAY PEACE BE UPON HIM) HAS GRANTED YOU
PERMISSION TO BENEFIT YOURSELVES, i. e., TO CONTRACT TEMPORARY
MARRIAGE WITH WOMEN.
Muslim, Book 008, Number 3247:
Salama b. al. Akwa' and Jabir b. Abdullah reported: ALLAH'S
MESSENGER (MAY PEACE BE UPON HIM) CAME TO US AND PERMITTED US TO
CONTRACT TEMPORARY MARRIAGE.
Muslim, Book 008, Number 3248:
Ibn Uraij reported: 'Ati' reported that Jibir b. Abdullah came
to perform 'Umra, and we came to his abode, and the people asked
him about different things, and then they made a mention of
temporary marriage, whereupon he said: YES, WE HAD BEEN
BENEFITING OURSELVES BY THIS TEMPORARY MARRIAGE DURING THE
LIFETIME OF THE HOLY PROPHET (MAY PEACE BE UPON HIM) AND DURING
THE TIME OF ABU BAKR AND 'UMAR.
Temporary marriage, of course, conflicts with the Quran, which
requires some "cause" for divorce. While Islam does not
require OBJECTIVE proof of some fault such as "mental
cruelty" or "adultery" as a precondition for
divorce, the Quran makes it clear that there must be some BONA
FIDE "disagreement," "incompatibility" or
"conflict" between the spouses. Quran 4:35, 4:128-130.
In mut’a the marriage does not end due to bona fide
disagreement between spouses but, rather, precisely BECAUSE
they have AGREED IN ADVANCE it should end!
There are also numerous ahadith IN CONFLICT with the above,
including the following:
Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 59, Number 527:
Narrated 'Ali bin Abi Talib:
On the day of Khaibar, ALLAH'S APOSTLE FORBADE THE MUT'A
(I.E. TEMPORARY MARRIAGE) and the eating of donkey-meat.
Muslim, Book 21, Number 4763:
'Ali b. Abi Talib reported that ALLAH'S MESSENGER (MAY PEACE
BE UPON HIM) FORBADE ON THE DAY OF KHAIBAR TEMPORARY MARRIAGE (MUTA')
WITH WOMEN and the eating of the flesh of domestic asses
Abu Dawood, Book 11, Number 2068:
Narrated Saburah ibn Ma'bad al-Juhani:
The APOSTLE OF ALLAH (PEACE_BE_UPON_HIM) PROHIBITED
TEMPORARY MARRIAGE WITH WOMEN.
Which conflicting set of ahadith is infallible?
THE PROPHET (pbuh) DIDN'T RECOGNIZE JIBREEL?
According to Bukhari, the Prophet (pbuh) said "Yes"!
Bukhari, Volume 6, Book 61, Number 503:
Narrated Abu 'Uthman:
I was informed that Gabriel came to the Prophet while Um Salama
was with him. GABRIEL STARTED TALKING (TO THE PROPHET). THEN
THE PROPHET ASKED UM SALAMA, "WHO IS THIS?" SHE REPLIED,
"HE IS DIHYA (AL-KALBI)." When Gabriel had left,
Um Salama said, "By Allah, I did not take him for anybody
other than him (i.e. Dihya) till I heard the sermon of the Prophet
wherein he informed about the news of Gabriel." The
subnarrator asked Abu 'Uthman: From whom have you heard that? Abu
'Uthman said: From Usama bin Zaid.
How could the Prophet (pbuh) ever fail to recognize he was
receiving revelations from Jibreel, when Jibreel transmitted these
revelations IN WORDS?
26.192
Verily this is a REVELATION from the Lord of the
Worlds:
26.193
With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth -
26.194
To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish.
26.195
IN THE PERSPICUOUS ARABIC TONGUE.
Quran, 26:192-195
Also, since when did the Prophet’s wife start receiving
revelations and recognizing Jibreel?
ARE THE SINS OF MUSLIMS TRANSFERRED TO CHRISTIANS AND JEWS?
"In a book entitled 110 Hadith Qudsi, translated by Syed
Masood-ul-Hasan, Revision and Commentaries by Ibrahim M. Kunna,
published by Darussalam, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1996/1417H,
appears a Qudsi Hadith No. 8 on page 19/20. I have faithfully
reproduced below the entire text with its commentary:
"No. 8: Narrated Abu Musa (r.a.): Allah's Messenger (s.a.s.)
said:
"On the Day of Resurrection, my Ummah (nation) will be
gathered into three groups, one sort will enter Paradise without
rendering an account (of their deeds). Another sort will be
reckoned on easy account and admitted into Paradise. Yet another
sort will come bearing on their backs heaps of sins like great
mountains. Allah will ask the angels though He knows best about
them: Who are these people? They will reply: They are humble
slaves of yours. HE WILL SAY: UNLOAD THE SINS FROM THEM AND
PUT THE SAME OVER THE JEWS AND CHRISTIANS; then let the
humble slaves get into Paradise by virtue of My Mercy. (This
Hadith is sound and mentioned in Mustadrak of Hakim)."
"Below is a verse of the Holy Qur'an, Surah Al-Anbiya (21)
verse 47:
"We shall set up scales of justice for the Day of Judgment
so that NOT A SOUL WILL BE DEALT WITH UNJUSTLY IN THE LEAST.
And if there be (no more than) the weight of a mustard seed We
will bring it (to account): and enough are We to take account.
"In his commentary, Abdullah Yusuf Ali writes:
"Allah's knowledge is perfect, and therefore HIS
JUSTICE WILL BE PERFECT ALSO; for He will not fail to take
into account all the most intangible things that determine conduct
and character.
"Then on that Day NOT A SOUL WILL BE WRONGED IN THE
LEAST and
ye shall but be repaid the meeds of your past Deeds. [Quran] 36
: 54
"And fear the day when ye shall be brought back to Allah.
Then shall every soul be paid what it earned and NONE SHALL
BE DEALT WITH UNJUSTLY. [Quran] 2 : 281
"Those who believe (in the Qur'an) and those who follow
the Jewish (scriptures) and the Christians and the Sabians, - any
who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, SHALL
HAVE THEIR REWARD WITH THEIR LORD; ON THEM SHALL BE NO FEAR, NOR
SHALL THEY GRIEVE. [Quran] 2 : 62
"Note: Allah (swt) is the Most Merciful. He can forgive
whoever, whenever and whatever He wishes. He does not need a
scapegoat to do that. Allah (swt) is also the Most Just and HE
DOES NOT DEAL UNJUSTLY WITH ANYONE OF HIS OWN CREATION."

DO FLY WINGS CURE DISEASE?
The Prophet (pbuh) said "Yes," according to
Bukhari!
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 673:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle said, "IF A FLY FALLS IN THE VESSEL
OF ANY OF YOU, LET HIM DIP ALL OF IT (INTO THE VESSEL) and
then throw it away, for in one of its wings there is a disease and
IN THE OTHER THERE IS HEALING (ANTIDOTE FOR IT) I E. THE
TREATMENT FOR THAT DISEASE."
Sounds like a good way to spread cholera and typhoid!
IS CAMEL URINE GOOD TO DRINK?
The Prophet (pbuh) said "Yes," according to
Bukhari!
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 71, Number 623:
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
Some people from the tribes of 'Ukl and 'Uraina came to Allah's
Apostle and embraced Islam and said, "O Allah's Apostle! We
are owners of livestock and have never been farmers," and
they found the climate of Medina unsuitable for them. SO
ALLAH'S APOSTLE ORDERED THAT THEY BE GIVEN SOME CAMELS AND A
SHEPHERD, AND ORDERED THEM TO GO OUT WITH THOSE CAMELS AND DRINK
THEIR MILK AND URINE. . . .
Emphasis added.
Volume 8, Book 82, Number 794:
Narrated Anas:
Some people from the tribe of 'Ukl came to the Prophet and
embraced Islam. The climate of Medina did not suit them, so THE
PROPHET ORDERED THEM to go to the (herd of milch) camels
of charity and TO DRINK, THEIR MILK AND URINE (as a
medicine). They did so, and after they had recovered from their
ailment (became healthy) they turned renegades (reverted from
Islam) and killed the shepherd of the camels and took the camels
away. The Prophet sent (some people) in their pursuit and so they
were (caught and) brought, and the Prophets ordered that their
hands and legs should be cut off and that their eyes should be
branded with heated pieces of iron, and that their cut hands and
legs should not be cauterized, till they die.
Volume 8, Book 82, Number 797:
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
A group of people from 'Ukl (or 'Uraina) tribe ----but I think
he said that they were from 'Ukl came to Medina and (they became
ill, so) THE PROPHET ORDERED THEM TO GO TO THE HERD OF (MILCH)
SHE-CAMELS AND TOLD THEM TO GO OUT AND DRINK THE CAMELS' URINE
and milk (as a medicine). So they went and drank it, and when they
became healthy, they killed the shepherd and drove away the
camels. This news reached the Prophet early in the morning, so he
sent (some) men in their pursuit and they were captured and
brought to the Prophet before midday. He ordered to cut off their
hands and legs and their eyes to be branded with heated iron
pieces and they were thrown at Al-Harra, and when they asked for
water to drink, they were not given water. (Abu Qilaba said,
"Those were the people who committed theft and murder and
reverted to disbelief after being believers (Muslims), and fought
against Allah and His Apostle").
COPIES OF THE QURAN SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN TO NON-MUSLIM
COUNTRIES?
According the Muslim, "That’s right!"
Muslim, Book 020, Number 4607:
"It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Umar who
said: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) FORBADE
THAT ONE SHOULD TRAVEL TO THE LAND OF THE ENEMY TAKING THE QUR'AN
WITH HIM."
Muslim, Book 020, Number 4608:
"It has been narrated on the authority of Abdullah b. Umar
that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) used to FORBID
THAT ONE SHOULD TRAVEL TO THE LAND OF THE ENEMY TAKING THE QUR'AN
(WITH HIM) LEST IT SHOULD FALL INTO THE HANDS OF THE ENEMY."
Muslim, Book 020, Number 4609:
"It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Umar that
the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: DO NOT
TAKE THE QUR'AN ON A JOURNEY WITH YOU, FOR I AM AFRAID LOST IT
SHOULD FALL INTO THE HANDS OF THE ENEMY. Ayyub (one of the
narrators in the chain of transmitters) said: THE ENEMY MAY
SEIZE IT AND MAY QUARREL WITH YOU OVER IT."
Emphases added.
If these ahadith are inerrant, then why are copies of the Quran
sold in bookstores throughout the Untied States? Why is the Quran
posted on-line, where non-believers
can read it? Isn’t it true that because of on-line
publication of the Quran, Christian
missionaries "may quarrel with you over it"? Hasn’t
every Muslim reading this had that
experience?
WAGERING AUTHORIZED EVEN THOUGH THE QURAN FORBIDS IT
Abu Dawud, Book 14, Number 2568:
"Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him)
said: WAGERS ARE ALLOWED ONLY FOR RACING CAMELS, OR HORSES
OR SHOOTING ARROWS."
Emphasis added.
The Quran, however, says:
"O ye who believe! Intoxicants and GAMBLING,
(dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, ARE AN
ABOMINATION, OF SATAN'S HANDWORK: ESCHEW SUCH (ABOMINATION), THAT
YE MAY PROSPER."
Quran, 5:90.
GENOCIDE OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN WARFARE JUSTIFIED
Muslim, Book 19, Number 4321:
"It is reported on the authority of Sa'b b. Jaththama that
the Prophet of Allah (may peace be upon him), WHEN ASKED
ABOUT THE WOMEN AND CHILDREN OF THE POLYTHEISTS BEING KILLED
DURING THE NIGHT RAID, SAID: THEY ARE FROM THEM."
Muslim, Book 19, Number 4322:
"It is narrated by Sa'b b. Jaththama that he said (to the
Holy Prophet): Messenger of Allah, WE KILL THE CHILDREN OF
THE POLYTHEISTS DURING THE NIGHT RAIDS. HE SAID: THEY ARE FROM
THEM."
Muslim, Book 19, Number 4323:
"Sa'b b. Jaththama has narrated that the Prophet (may
peace be upon him) asked: WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN OF
POLYTHEISTS KILLED BY THE CAVALRY DURING THE NIGHT RAID? HE SAID:
THEY ARE FROM THEM."
Emphases added.
So are the atrocities of Bosnia and Checnya alright if our side
does it? But wrong only if
Christians or nonbelievers kill Muslim women and children?
Because these false ahadith seemed shocking even to Muslim, he
added a chapter heading to the effect that this covered only
"unintentional killing." But where does the text of
these ahadith say that?
ARE WOMEN INTELLECTUALLY AND SPIRITUALLY INFERIOR TO MEN?
According to Bukhari, the Prophet (pbuh) said "Yes"!
Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 6, Number 301:
Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:
Once Allah's Apostle went out to the Musalla (to offer the
prayer) o 'Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the
women and said, "O WOMEN! GIVE ALMS, AS I HAVE SEEN
THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE DWELLERS OF HELL-FIRE WERE YOU
(WOMEN)." THEY ASKED, "WHY IS IT SO, O ALLAH'S APOSTLE
?" HE REPLIED, "YOU CURSE FREQUENTLY AND ARE UNGRATEFUL
TO YOUR HUSBANDS. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANYONE MORE DEFICIENT IN
INTELLIGENCE AND RELIGION THAN YOU. A CAUTIOUS SENSIBLE MAN COULD
BE LED ASTRAY BY SOME OF YOU." The women asked,
"O Allah's Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and
religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women
equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the
affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her
intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast
during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He
said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 30:
Narrated Abdullah bin 'Umar:
Allah's Apostle said, "EVIL OMEN IS IN THE WOMEN,
the house and the horse.'
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 31:
Narrated Ibn 'Umar:
Evil omen was mentioned before the Prophet: The Prophet said,
"IF THERE IS EVIL OMEN IN ANYTHING, it is in
the house, THE WOMAN and the horse."
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 32:
Narrated Sahl bin Sad:
Allah's Apostle said, "IF AT ALL THERE IS BAD OMEN,
IT IS IN the horse, THE WOMAN, and the
house."
Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 3:
Narrated Usama bin Zaid:
The Prophet said, "After me I HAVE NOT LEFT ANY
AFFLICTION MORE HARMFUL TO MEN THAN WOMEN."
These false ahadith directly conflict with the Quran, which
does not denigrate women, but
recognizes their SPIRITUAL EQUALITY with men:
016.097
Whoever works righteousness, MAN OR WOMAN, and
has Faith, verily, to him will We give a new Life, a life that is
good and pure and We will bestow on such their reward according to
the best of their actions.
033.035
For Muslim MEN AND WOMEN,- for believing MEN
AND WOMEN, for devout MEN AND WOMEN, for
true MEN AND WOMEN, for MEN AND WOMEN
who are patient and constant, for MEN AND WOMEN who
humble themselves, for MEN AND WOMEN who give in
Charity, for MEN AND WOMEN who fast (and deny
themselves), for MEN AND WOMEN who guard their
chastity, and for MEN AND WOMEN who engage much in
Allah's praise,- for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great
reward.
048.005
That He may admit the MEN AND WOMEN who believe,
to Gardens beneath which rivers flow, to dwell therein for aye,
and remove their ills from them;- and that is, in the sight of
Allah, the highest achievement (for man),-
DID THE PROPHET APPROACH AISHA DURING MENSES FOR SEXUAL
PURPOSES?
According to Bukhari, "YES"!
Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 6, Number 298:
Narrated 'Aisha:
The Prophet and I used to take a bath from a single pot while
we were Junub. DURING THE MENSES, HE USED TO ORDER ME TO PUT
ON AN IZAR (DRESS WORN BELOW THE WAIST) AND USED TO FONDLE ME.
WHILE IN ITIKAF, HE USED TO BRING HIS HEAD NEAR ME AND I WOULD
WASH IT WHILE I USED TO BE IN MY PERIODS (MENSES).
Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 6, Number 299:
Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin Al-Aswad: (on the authority of his
father)
'Aisha said: "WHENEVER ALLAH'S APOSTLE WANTED TO
FONDLE ANYONE OF US DURING HER PERIODS (MENSES), HE USED TO ORDER
HER TO PUT ON AN IZAR AND START FONDLING HER." 'Aisha
added, "None of you could control his sexual desires as the
Prophet could."
Approaching women during menses for sexual
gratification is explicitly prohibited by the
Quran:
2:222:
They ask thee concerning women's courses. Say: They are a hurt
and a pollution: SO KEEP AWAY FROM WOMEN IN THEIR COURSES,
AND DO NOT APPROACH THEM UNTIL THEY ARE CLEAN. But when
they have purified themselves, ye may approach them in any manner,
time, or place ordained for you by Allah. For Allah loves those
who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves
pure and clean.
