The Discriminatory Policy Of Reservation For Christians And
Muslims
Already under constitution which discriminates against Hindus of
India, the minority institutions run by Christians and Moslems
enjoy complete monopoly as to having mostly Christian or Moslem
students in their professional colleges. And if the reservations
that are meant to uplift so called lower castes among Hindus are
extended to Christians and Moslems in other public institutions
then it will be further inducement to conversion of poor and
hapless Hindus and clearly an anti Hindu measure that is expected
of a congress or left front but not from so called Hindu
nationalist BJP led government.
Moreover Christians and Moslems pride themselves as casteless
societies. So on what basis such reservations and quotas meant for
scheduled castes and tribes can be extended ?
Actually instead of evolving a time bound frame to jettison this
quota and reservation raj as mentioned in the very constitution
while the world is entering into a new millennium, all parties and
governments have developed vested interests in prolonging them by
adding more and more castes every year and keeping India backward.
Why not declare entire country as backward and include entire
Indian population as SC/ST/ or OBC and go from there ?
It is a travesty. Actually as time goes on benefits of such
measures should have dictated deletion rather than addition. Now
this proposal which the government wants to consider is completely
without merit and further fragment our society by polarizing
communal divisions.
That this so called Hindu nationalist government here should
follow the example set by S. R. Kesri who proposed this way back
shows that more things change more they remain same.
Actually instead of opposing Pope demanding an apology from them,
the VHP and other such organizations will do better service to our
society if they oppose this Government's consideration for
reservation and quotas for Moslems and Christians.
Instead of a religion or caste if help is rendered on the basis of
haves and have nots, the system would be more equitable. Otherwise
the current system is clearly against national interest even if so
called nationalist government proposes to consider it. It is a
shameful development following the example of discredited
Congress.
